RED ANGUS
KURRA-WIRRA RED ANGUS
At Kurra-Wirra, our Red Angus breeding program is all about producing bulls that help commercial producers lift their game — whether that’s more kilos, better fertility, or improving market premiums.
We kicked things off in 2018, selecting our foundation Red Angus females from the renowned Paringa herd. From there, we’ve built a focused program using artificial insemination (AI) with some of the best Red Angus genetics from around the world. The result? A breeding program designed to keep improving with every generation.
Backed by Data with Angus TACE
We run our Red Angus right alongside our black Angus in the Angus TACE analysis management group. This gives us performance data that’s directly comparable, helping us make smarter breeding decisions and constantly improve the herd.
The results?
Our Red Angus are performing as well, if not better than our Angus across growth, fertility, and carcass traits. Whether it’s average daily gain, IMF, or scrotal size, they’re right up there — and in many cases leading the pack.
That’s why we confidently say — our Red Angus aren’t just red versions of Angus. They’re high-performance cattle with added benefits for tougher environments.
Built for Both South and North
Our Red Angus are bred with versatility in mind. They’ve got all the key Angus traits — fertility, temperament, maternal ability, and carcass quality — but with a red coat that gives them an edge in hotter climates. That makes them just as suited to southern pastures as they are to northern stations.
Why Red Angus?
-
Handles the Heat: The red coat reflects more sunlight than black, helping them stay cooler and more productive in hotter regions.
-
Buffalo Fly Advantage: Lighter coats make them less attractive to buffalo fly, a big plus in northern and tropical zones.
-
Proven Adaptability: Whether it’s cold southern winters or humid tropical summers, our Red Angus handle it well.
Why Producers Choose Kurra-Wirra Red Angus
Our Red Angus bulls are popular with commercial producers looking for reliable performance in diverse conditions. Whether you’re chasing fertility, growth, or market premiums, these bulls deliver — and they’re bred to keep doing so in the paddock, not just on paper.
